The sacred groves, called Kavus during the Theyyam season turns into a paradise for history seekers, photographers, and art enthusiasts.
Theyyam – from Daivam is synonymous with deity. But, along with the Gods from Puranas, Theyyams are also from folklores.
The deities include yesteryear heroes – males and females alike, those who righteously challenged feudalism, and even those who were killed in deceit by the feudal landlords…Thus Theyyams also represented the aspirations of the people and is the reason why this art is the emotion of Kolathunadu beyond the caste and religion.

Treat your eyes watching Chamayam – the makeover of the Theyyams. Learn the history of each Theyyam from Thottampattu – lore songs. Then indulge yourselves in the magic of Theyyam performance which sometimes becomes breathtaking.
And that’s not just one, but 10 Theyyams together. Which include – Kandanar Kelan Theyyam which takes revenge on fire by walking on it, Kudiveeran Theyyam that shows off the steps of Kalari and the Silver eyes Wayanattu Kulavan Theyyam. Note:-
- To Reach Pilathara:- Busses are available from Kannur/ Payyanur Bus Stand every 10 Minutes
- Theyyam Timing is not accurate, it may change according to the rituals
- Theyyam is a ritual performance. The one you are going to watch is the actual performance, not the capsule.
- Local people are highly devotional to Theyyam. We expect respect towards the local traditions from each traveler
- Participants should dress appropriately.
- You have to be in the Kaav ( Where the performance is happening at whole night). Vehicle service won't be available to drop you back at the hotel till the mentioned time. In case any of the travelers need to go back to the hotel, you have to pay an additional amount to drivers.
- Kids can also join the trip. Fees will be the same as that of Adults. Kids also have to wait late at night at Kaav, there won't be any night transportation to Hotel
- Dinner on day 1 will be from the temple ( Prasadam, it will be a simple Kerala-style food, you have to be with local people in the queue to have dinner )
- Day 2 Lunch is simple Kerala-style Veg meals
- Rooms will Delux class AC rooms near Payyanur
- If you arrive early- You may have to pay extra to the hotel to check in and its based on availability only. check-in time will be 2 :00 PM ,

- All expenses incurred due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances like roadblocks and bad weather

- Entry ticket to floating park
- If you plan to return Back to Hotel during night time, extra vehicle charges( Getting vehicle at night is tough from Teyyam kaav)
Note : Day 2: Sunset Kayaking in Kowayai, Payyanur
If you'd like to explore sunset kayaking, you can book a late-night train for convenience. Please note that kayaking will depend on the water level and will incur an additional cost. Further details will be discussed in the WhatsApp group created for this trip.

Cancellation Policy
A participant will be refunded his/her paid fees after deducting the following cancellation fees.

- Alternatively, a registered participant may transfer his/her registration to a friend without any cancellation fee.
- In case of cancellation of the program due to any gov restrictions due to COVID/ Weather, an alternate date will be provided for the same trip and no refund for that.
- In case you are not able to join the trek on the new dates, either you can send a replacement ( Without any additional cost) / You can opt for Wallet transfer,
- What is Wallet Transfer ?: The amount will move to LGFC Wallet and you can use that for any other trip. ( 2% fee will be deducted as movement charges) . Strictly there won’t be any refund to a bank account.
- Wallet transfer is applicable only for the case when a participant wont be able to join the new date on a postponed trip due to Pandemic / Weather situations
- The wallet transfer offer will only be one time , when the new date is announced. Further changes will be counted as normal cancellations and will be as per cancellation policy.
- Installments are to be paid before the due dates.
- In case when installments are pending after the due date, the order will be auto-canceled.
- There will be no refund in case of auto cancellation due to nonpayment of installments.

FAQs
The fee will be the same as for Adults if you need 2 shared rooms. If any friends/ Family join you, then only you can take 3 sharing rooms. then the kid’s fee will be 75% of the total fee. ( This is applicable only if a kid is below 10 years ). 10 or above fee will be same as that of Adults. Note:- Food and all will be the same as that of adults.
