Overview
The Valley of Flowers , is one of the most beautiful trekking destinations to be at. The rare phenomenon of colorful floral blooms in a valley situated amongst the snow clad mountains of Himalayas , happens every year along with the monsoons. Valley of Flowers is a medium difficulty trek , which involves trekking into high altitude area , and hence proper physical preparation is required. However , the physical preparations are super easy with guidance from our coordinator and is best to start early. Along with the beautiful valley of flowers , the trek also covers Hemkund Sahib , an ancient Gurudwara located alongside a pristine Himalayan lake. The trip toward the valley of flowers base camp from Rishikesh will be one of the most memorable journey , as it traverses through the steep cut mountain roads and the Ganges flowing almost throughout in the gorges.

On a chilly morning we leave the comfort of Govindghat and trek to Ghangharia. We begin our gradual ascent towards Ghangharia which is the base for VOF and Hemkund and Hemkund Sahib. As we climb up, the river Lakshman Ganga, flows down below and comes closer to the level at which it flows. After steep climb, reaching Ghangaria feels like an achievement. After arrival at Ghangaria, before you retire for the night, gorge in some special dinner at the guest house.
Over Night stay at Ghangaria
Day 3 09 July, 2024 Ghangharia (2,195 m) to Valley of Flowers (3,505 m)
Trek - 5km one side
We start the trail and pass gently through a coniferous forest, before descending to a bridge, climbing up a rocky trail, with the forest behind us, the sight of the first flowers begin to appear. The valley is beautiful, and there are meadows of flowers as if it’s a dream locale. Himalayan Balsam, is the most predominant flower of the valley and a thick blanket of these flowers can be seen everywhere. After viewing the God’s natural beauty we start descending to Ghangaria.

Day 4 10 July, 2024 Ghangharia (2,195 m) to Hemkund Sahib  (4,633 m )

Today's climb to Hemkund Sahib is steep at places and will take about 3 - 4 hrs. Hemkund Sahib is a popular Sikh Shrine built next to the beautiful lake. The lake is surrounded by wild flowers with Brahmkamal being the most popular. Pilgrims take a dip in the freezing cold waters of the lake, not an easy task. The hot tea served in the Gurudwara (shrine) is divine to say the least. We will also visit the Laxman mandir next to the Gurudwara. Towards late afternoon head back to Ghangria.
