This is not just a journey through the mountains.
It’s an expedition into one of the most remote and unforgiving landscapes of the Himalayas.
Our Winter Spiti Expedition takes you from the colonial charm of Shimla through the dramatic valleys of Kinnaur and deep into the frozen wilderness of Spiti. From snow-covered villages and ancient monasteries to frozen rivers and towering Himalayan peaks, every day brings a landscape more surreal than the last.
Winter transforms Spiti into another world.
The roads become quieter, villages slow down, rivers begin to freeze, and temperatures can drop well below zero. Life here continues at its own pace—with limited water availability, occasional power cuts, unpredictable road conditions, and the possibility of weather-related delays. In the mountains, plans can change, and flexibility is part of the experience.
This journey is designed for those who want to experience Spiti beyond the usual tourist season.
Explore the ancient monasteries of Tabo and Dhankar, wander through the high-altitude villages of Hikkim, Komic and Langza, stand beneath the dramatic cliffs of Chicham, experience the stark beauty of Pin Valley, and travel through the contrasting landscapes of Kinnaur and Sangla.
Along the way, expect snow-covered landscapes, frozen streams, dramatic mountain passes, clear winter skies, quiet villages, and nights filled with stars.
But Winter Spiti is not about comfort.
It is about embracing the cold, adapting to the mountains, travelling slowly, and understanding that nature sets the rules here. Road closures, delays, and unexpected changes can happen, so we strongly recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days after the trip.
If you're looking for a luxury holiday, this may not be the journey for you.
But if you're looking for raw landscapes, remote Himalayan villages, ancient Buddhist culture, adventure, and an experience far away from the usual tourist trail, Winter Spiti is waiting.
Come prepared. Come patient. Come with an open mind.
The Himalayas may challenge you—but they will give you stories you’ll never forget.

This expedition is strictly designed for travellers below 50 years of age.
Participants must not have any heart-related conditions, asthma, or serious respiratory issues.
Note:
Winter Spiti is a road trip to the remote and treacherous Trans Himalayan Region where nighttime temperatures may plummet 30 Degrees below zero or even less, and daytime temperature usually hovers around 0 and Minus 2 to Minus 5 Degrees. These Conditions not only make the trip challenging for the travellers but even for the Vehicle & The Drivers. Frozen Roads and Sub Zero Temperatures prompts us to pick comfortable and reliable accommodations. Electricity is erratic; only dry pit toilets are available as there is no running water; therefore, no bathing either.
Sudden changes in weather can lead to road blocks, and arranging alternate accommodation is not possible. In the event that arranging alternate accommodation is possible, additional charges as per actual will be applicable. Hence, all the travellers should be made to acknowledge the same to avoid any kind of confusion or chaos during any such event. It is also recommended that anyone with particular ailments should carry their medicines, as in remote regions we might not find adequate medical facilities. Though we will be carrying an Oxygen Cylinder & a basic medical kit that can be used in an emergency, but its recommended that guests get travel insurance.
Given the road and snow conditions, the itinerary may change; some places we might have to skip if road access is not safe for a Tempo Traveller; however, if 4x4 vehicles are allowed, then guests will have to pay directly and avail those services
