Detailed Itinerary

Day Date Activity Details
Day 1 05 July, 2026 7.00 AM Rishikesh to Govindghat (1,828 m)
270km  Approx  - 8–9 hours drive
Over Night stay at Govindghat
Day 2 06 July, 2026 Govindghat to Pulna Trek from Pulna to Ghangaria (3,049m )
14 km Trek
On a chilly morning we leave the comfort of Govindghat and trek to Ghangaria. We begin our gradual ascent towards Ghangaria which is the base for VOF and Hemkund Sahib. As we climb up, the river Lakshman Ganga, flows down below and comes closer to the level at which it flows. After a steep climb, reaching Ghangaria feels like an achievement. After arrival at Ghangaria, before you retire for the night, enjoy a special dinner at the guest house.
Over Night stay at Ghangaria
Day 3 07 July, 2026 Ghangaria (3,049 m) to Valley of Flowers (3,505 m)
Trek - 5 km one side
We start the trail and pass gently through a coniferous forest, before descending to a bridge, climbing up a rocky trail, with the forest behind us, the sight of the first flowers begins to appear. The valley is beautiful, and there are meadows of flowers as if it’s a dream locale. Himalayan Balsam is the most predominant flower of the valley and a thick blanket of these flowers can be seen everywhere. After viewing the God’s natural beauty we start descending to Ghangaria.
Over Night stay at Ghangaria
Day 4 08 July, 2026 Ghangaria (3,049 m) to Hemkund Sahib (4,633 m )
Trek -6 km one side
Today's climb to Hemkund Sahib is steep at places and will take about 3 - 4 hrs. Hemkund Sahib is a popular Sikh Shrine built next to the beautiful lake. The lake is surrounded by wild flowers with Brahmkamal being the most popular. Pilgrims take a dip in the freezing cold waters of the lake, not an easy task. The hot tea served in the Gurudwara (shrine) is divine to say the least. We will also visit the Laxman mandir next to the Gurudwara. Towards late afternoon head back to Ghangaria.
Over Night stay at Ghangaria
Day 5 09 July, 2026 Ghangaria to Govindghat
Trek -14 km
Next day in the morning, we start our downhill trek, back to Govindghat. The climb down is much easier. If at all you arrive at Govindghat on time, then you may visit Badrinath temple (at an extra cost) and come back to the guest house by evening. We would advise you to check the weather and road condition before heading to Badrinath.
Over Night stay at Govindghat
