Long before it became a popular trek, Kuari Pass was a quiet Himalayan gateway used by shepherds and traders, later walked by Lord Curzon—earning it the name Curzon Trail. Today, it’s one of Uttarakhand’s most breathtaking journeys 🌄. The trail unfolds through oak and rhododendron forests, open meadows, and snow-clad ridges, with every turn revealing something new. From golden sunsets at Khullara to the unforgettable summit views from Kuari Pass, trekkers are rewarded with a grand panorama of Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kamet, Dronagiri, and more 🏔️. After descending to Tali, the trek concludes at Auli., a serene forest campsite beside a mountain stream—perfectly blending history, nature, and Himalayan magic ✨.

| 1 | 28 Mar 2026 | Drive from Rishikesh to Joshimath (6,150 ft) (255 km | 9–10 hours) | Joshimath |
| Pickup from Tapovan, Rishikesh at 7:00 AM. The journey begins early from Rishikesh, following the Alaknanda River deep into the Garhwal Himalayas. The long drive gradually transitions from plains to winding mountain roads, passing through river confluences, old hill towns, and dramatic valleys carved by fast-flowing rivers. As altitude increases, the landscape becomes distinctly Himalayan, with forested slopes and distant snow peaks appearing intermittently. By evening, you arrive at Joshimath, a historic mountain town that has long served as a gateway to high Himalayan routes. The rest of the day is reserved for rest, acclimatisation, and final preparations for the trek ahead. | |||
| 2 | 29 Mar 2026 | Drive from Joshimath to Karchi (7,785 ft) (20 km | 1 hour) and trek from Karchi to Akhrotghetta (9,264 ft) (trek distance: 2.75 km | 5–6 hours) | Akhrotghetta |
| After breakfast, a short drive brings you to Karchi, the starting point of the trek. The trail begins with a steady ascent through terraced fields and village paths before entering dense oak and mixed forests. Although the distance is short, the climb is gradual and sustained, making it an important acclimatisation day. The forest canopy provides shade, while occasional clearings offer views of the surrounding valleys. The pace remains slow and deliberate as you gain altitude. By afternoon, you reach Akhrotghetta, a quiet campsite set within the forest, where the sound of wind through the trees and mountain silence mark your first night on the trail. | |||
| 3 | 30 Mar 2026 | Trek from Akhrotghetta to Khullara (11,014 ft) (2.5 km | 4–5 hours) | Khullara |
| Today’s trek continues through thick oak and rhododendron forests, with the trail climbing steadily but comfortably. As you gain height, the forest begins to thin, allowing glimpses of snow-covered peaks through the trees. The surroundings become increasingly alpine, and the air noticeably cooler. The ascent leads to Khullara, a high meadow campsite with open views and wide skies. By evening, the mountains dominate the horizon, and sunsets here are particularly striking, casting warm hues on the surrounding ridges. Khullara also serves as the base for the Kuari Pass crossing, making this an important and scenic halt. | |||
| 4 | 31 Mar 2026 | Trek from Khullara to Tali (10,990 ft) via Kuari Pass (12,516 ft) (8 km | 8–9 hours) | Tali |
| This is the most demanding and rewarding day of the trek. An early start is essential as the trail climbs sharply toward Khullara Top and onward to Kuari Pass. As you ascend, the terrain opens into ridgelines and snow patches, depending on the season. Reaching Kuari Pass is a defining moment — a high mountain gateway offering a grand, uninterrupted panorama of the Garhwal Himalayas. Peaks such as Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and Mana–Mandir rise dramatically in every direction. After spending time at the pass, the route continues along a breathtaking ridge walk across Chitrakantha meadows before descending gradually into the forested bowl of Tali. Nestled among golden oak trees and beside a gentle stream, Tali campsite is serene and deeply picturesque, offering a well-earned rest after a long day. | |||
| 5 | 01 Apr 2026 | Trek from Tali to Auli (9,300 ft) (10 km | 7–8 hours) and drive to Joshimath (15 km | 1 hour) | Joshimath |
| The descent from Tali begins with forest trails that slowly open into alpine meadows. The walk is long but gentle, passing through varied landscapes that feel distinctly different from the ascent route. As you approach Auli, wide grassy slopes and expansive mountain views dominate the scenery. Known for its open pastures and panoramic vistas, Auli marks the end of the trekking section. From here, a short drive takes you back to Joshimath. The evening is spent resting, reflecting on the journey, and enjoying the comfort of a town stay after several days in the wilderness. | |||
| 6 | 02 Apr 2026 | Depart from Joshimath and reach Rishikesh (250 km | 9–10 hours) | N/A |
| The final day involves a full-day drive back to Rishikesh, retracing the mountain roads along river valleys and hillside towns. As the altitude drops, the landscape gradually transitions back to lower forests and river plains. Arrival in Rishikesh is expected by evening, marking the end of the Kuari Pass trek and a journey filled with high mountain views, historic trails, and unforgettable landscapes. |
